Fresh snow in a golden aspen forest is one of the most glorious times to go for a walk, I'd say! This happened a week or so ago and I had a permagrin all morning.
Holy smokes what a sunset light show over the Cimarrons after the first snows last week!!! Happy to have witnessed this one.

I recently revisited a favorite view of mine of Wetterhorn Peak (14,015 ft.), for the third time since 2007. I remember back then I was just starting to use Google Earth as a tool for scouting for potential unique vistas, and this spot was one of my first memorable discoveries from that method. I even wrote an excited blog post then (back when people bothered to read blogs) like "hey, you can use Google Earth to scout for photos!". No duh... Time rolls on, but the mountain seems to stay the same. In fact when I compare this shot to my first one from 12 years ago, the snow patches are almost exactly the same! But this time I was pleased with the huge monsoon thunderclouds in the background. . #wetterhornpeak #co14ers #14ers #sanjuanmountains
A 20 second exposure captures the dusk glow high in the San Juan Mountains.
Just some flowers for your Saturday.
Sunrise light on the Sneffels Range. Most of the range you see here is included in the proposed Mount Sneffels Wilderness Addition which is part of the CORE Act in Congress. It makes sense to me to include the whole Sneffels Range in the wilderness, not just half of it like now. Particularly since this eastern half is the most scenic and unique in my opinion! As a local resident I hope the CORE Act passes. . #mountsneffelswilderness #sneffelsrange #coreact
As I was sitting atop this mountain minding my own business, I got that sensation of someone watching me. Turned to my right and there's a pika just staring silently at me. Creepiest pika ever.

Classic Colorado on display a few days ago along the Sneffels Range! . I didn't realize it until later that night that while I was hanging out here and shooting photos my legs got absolutely annihilated by gnats! Hundreds of bites, so itchy that I've literally had troubles sleeping for the last two nights. It's the dark side of paradise! . #gnatlife

A cosmic 4th of July fireworks show in Ouray, Colorado last night. I always love watching the fireworks here, listening to the booms echoing through the mountains! . #ouray #ouraycolorado #sanjuanmountains #fireworks #fourthofjuly #4thofjuly #colorado #coloradophotography #coloradolove
